Rambling Thoughts.
As the name may imply, I have a wide range of interests, and some fairly strong views on many different topics.
In this blog you may see discussions of science, politics, religion, sailing, aircraft, or whatever headline catches my interest on any given day. And those are just for a Monday.
Today, a brief discussion of beauty.
Besides being a hardcore geek, I am also an airplane mechanic - an FAA certificated Airframe and Powerplant mechanic.
I see beauty in many different - and sometimes odd - places.
To me, an engine is functional sculpture.
To wit, this closeup of a Jacobs R-755 radial engine.
Beauty can be macro - like the engine, above - or it can be micro.
Each year, Science Magazine - the publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science - does a scientific visualization challenge. Here is beauty, on both the micro-level - like mRNA - and the macroscopic level - the "Invisible Coral Flows" is stunning.
Check it out at their website.
And check out the world around you. Find the beauty.
